  • CoLA Application Process & Checklist

    Before beginning the application process, we highly recommend attending a CoLA Information Session to familiarize yourself with program expectations and requirements.  It is a wonderful opportunity to have any questions answered.  In addition, we will discuss the option of attaining a Master’s/Doctoral degree concurrently with principal certification.

    1. Online Application - Complete the electronic application and include supporting documents by uploading into the application system.  The CoLA summer application deadline is May 25, 2018.

    1. Resume- A current resume is preferred. 
    2. Letter of Recommendation- A signed letter of recommendation from one supervisor supervisor is required. 
    3. Application Fee – A $50 application fee must be submitted prior to processing applications.           Acceptable forms of payment:
    • Credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) – payments may be submitted through the application link provided above by selecting the “pay fee” tab or over the phone by calling Joanna Rangarajan at 210-370-5778.
    • Checks - Must be made out to: Education Service Center – Region 20 or ESC-20 and may be mailed to the address below or brought in to our offices located on the 2nd floor of the Maples Conference Building between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
    1. Submission of Official transcript Master’s Degree* – An official transcript in a sealed envelope or secure electronic version (“e-script”) must be submitted. Copies are not accepted.

    Transcripts may be mailed to:

    Secure electronic versions of transcripts or “e-scripts” may be sent to:

    1. Valid Texas Educator Certificate
    2. Service Records – May be obtained from your school district Human Resources office.
    3. Screening Interview – All applicants will receive an interview questionnaire via e-mail to ensure applicant readiness and appropriateness prior to entering the program.  Once received, please complete, scan and email to 
    4. Letter of Admission – A letter of admission will be e-mailed once all application documents are received and all program acceptance requirements are met. Applicants must respond back within five business days from the date the e-mail is sent.


    If we do not receive written communication of acceptance (e-mail acceptable) within the specified time frame, we will consider you have chosen not to move forward with the program..

    *Bachelor’s Degree required for applicants interested in pursuing the Master’s Degree concurrently with principal certification.
